School of Civil Engineering Holds a Discipline Development Demonstration Meeting
On the morning of March 20, the School of Civil Engineering (SCE), Sun Yat-sen University (SYSU) held a discipline development demonstration meeting at Swasey Hall on the south campus of SYSU. Academicians of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, including Wang Jingquan; Wang Chao; Niu Xinqiang; Hu Chunhong; Zhang Jianmin; Deng Mingjiang; and Huajun; A·Ghan·Razaqpur, academician of Canadian Academy of Engineering; and 28 experts in civil and hydraulic engineering from universities, enterprises, and industry associations at home and abroad gathered at the meeting to give ideas and suggestions for the construction and development of civil and hydraulic engineering disciplines for SYSU.
Lan Ping, vice principal of SYSU attended the meeting and delivered the welcome speech. He introduced SYSU’s overall conditions, development ideas, and construction achievements in recent years. On behalf of SYSU, he thanked experts for their participation at the meeting and asked them to share opinions and give advice. At the same time, he fully affirmed the development philosophy of SCE: exploring a distinctive path via the combination of national strategic needs and future development trends of the disciplines. He encouraged SCE to listen to experts’ opinions at this meeting and advance all works to a new stage.
